Ambarella Unveils CV7 SoC with 2.5x AI Boost and 20% Power Reduction

AMBAAMBA

Ambarella unveiled its CV7 edge AI vision SoC at CES, leveraging Samsung’s 4nm process to deliver 2.5x AI performance over the CV5 and 20% lower power consumption. The integrated SoC supports multi-stream 8Kp60 processing, quad-core Cortex-A73 CPU, and advanced ISP and encoding for robotics, enterprise security and automotive applications.

1. Ambarella Unveils Developer Zone to Accelerate Edge AI Ecosystem

At CES 2026 in Las Vegas, Ambarella launched its Ambarella Developer Zone (DevZone), a centralized online portal hosting optimized models, low-code and no-code agentic blueprints, comprehensive documentation and community resources. The DevZone supports Ambarella’s portfolio of purpose-built edge AI SoCs—39 million units shipped to date—by streamlining prototype development and deployment. System integrators, module builders, distributors and ISVs gain immediate access to the Cooper™ Model Garden repository, a Learning & Onboarding Library with white papers and tutorials, and preconfigured Agentic Blueprints for rapid multi-agent system assembly. This unified environment is designed to reduce integration friction, clarify hybrid edge/cloud system design and strengthen go-to-market collaboration, enabling partners to bring edge AI solutions to sectors such as smart cameras, robotics, industrial automation and ADAS more rapidly and at lower cost.

2. CV7 SoC Debut Delivers Breakthrough AI Performance and Power Efficiency

Also at CES 2026, Ambarella introduced the CV7, its first 4 nm edge AI vision SoC built on Samsung process technology. The CV7 offers more than 2.5× AI accelerator performance versus the prior-generation CV5, combined with a 20% reduction in power consumption. It supports simultaneous multi-stream 8Kp60 video processing, hardware-accelerated encoding (up to dual 8Kp30 or a single 4Kp240 stream), and real-time execution of CNNs and transformer-based networks for applications including enterprise security, AI vision gateways in fleet telematics, robotics and consumer action cameras. Featuring a third-generation CVflow® AI accelerator, an Arm® Cortex-A73 quad-core CPU and a 64-bit DRAM interface, the CV7 achieves industry-leading AI performance per watt, enabling smaller form factors, extended battery life and simplified thermal management for next-generation AIoT and automotive edge deployments.
