American Airlines anchors Phoenix Sky Harbor’s planned West Terminal expansion
AAL•American Airlines named anchor carrier for West Terminal plan
Phoenix Sky Harbor selected American Airlines Group Inc. as the anchor carrier for its planned West Terminal, the airport’s first new terminal in nearly 40 years.
The project aims to add capacity, upgrade amenities, improve infrastructure, and support Phoenix growth as a global gateway.
American accounts for about 40% of Sky Harbor traffic and carries more than 20 million passengers a year through PHX. The carrier operates more than 300 peak daily departures from PHX, serving more than 100 destinations.
