DOE and Nevada officials tour Reno recycling facility

American Battery Technology hosted senior U.S. Department of Energy leaders for a tour of its Reno-area commercial battery recycling facility.

The visit highlighted DOE-backed technologies moving from pilot validation to commercial deployment across recycling and claystone-to-lithium hydroxide operations.

A planned second recycling facility is backed by a $150 million DOE award and is expected to process about five times current Reno volumes.

The company’s claystone-to-lithium hydroxide refinery plan is supported by a $57 million DOE award and is proposed near the Tonopah Flats Lithium Project.
