American Eagle Launches 50,000m Drill Program to Target Maiden 2027 Resource
American Eagle plans more than 50,000 metres of drilling through 2027 at its 100% owned NAK copper-gold porphyry project near Smithers, BC, beginning in April with three rigs and adding a fourth once operations stabilize. The program aims to expand a 1.5 by 1.7-kilometre mineralized footprint from surface to over 800 metres depth, support a maiden mineral resource estimate and preliminary economic assessment targeted for 2027.
1. Expanded 2026-2027 Drill Campaign
American Eagle will commence a 50,000 metre program in April 2026 at NAK using three rigs initially, adding a fourth once seasonal operations are stable. Drilling will continue through 2027 to support step-out, exploration, and metallurgical holes across multiple target zones.
2. Mineralized System and Resource Planning
The campaign aims to expand a defined 1.5 x 1.7 km copper-gold footprint from surface to over 800 metre depths while targeting additional high-grade centres. Outcomes are designed to underpin a maiden NI 43-101 resource estimate and preliminary economic assessment in 2027.
3. Funding and Strategic Backing
The program is backed by over $55 million in proforma funding following investments by Teck, South32, Eric Sprott, and Ore Group. This capital supports expanded drilling, technical studies, and acceleration toward a resource estimate and PEA by late 2027.
