AWK•Kentucky American Water restored service to about 200 Harlan County homes after flooding and completed a $1.4 million acquisition of a local water and wastewater system serving more than 4,300 water connections.

Kentucky American Water completed its acquisition of Black Mountain Utility District’s water system and wastewater service in Harlan County for $1.4 million. After recent flooding disrupted service, crews supported restoration for about 200 homes. The company plans $20.9 million in water-system upgrades over five years to improve reliability and monitoring.
