Americas Gold and Silver Forms JV for Hydromet Processing Facility Next to Mines
Americas Gold and Silver and United States Antimony Corporation have formed a joint venture to build a state-of-the-art hydromet processing facility on lands adjacent to Americas Gold and Silver’s active silver, copper and antimony operations. The plant will enable hydrometallurgical treatment of concentrates, aiming to boost domestic antimony output and processing efficiency.
1. Joint Venture Details
Americas Gold and Silver Corporation has partnered with United States Antimony Corporation to create a joint venture that will construct a hydrometallurgical processing plant on lands contributed by both companies. The facility will be located immediately adjacent to Americas Gold and Silver’s existing silver, copper and antimony operations, leveraging local infrastructure and permitting footprints.
2. Strategic Rationale
The new hydromet processing plant is designed to apply advanced leaching and recovery technologies to antimony-rich concentrates, reducing dependence on third-party processors and securing a domestic source of strategic critical minerals. By integrating processing closer to the mine sites, the joint venture aims to lower transportation costs, improve recovery rates and accelerate time to market for high-grade antimony products.
3. Project Outlook
Following finalization of the joint venture agreement, the partners plan to complete detailed engineering and secure financing in the coming months. Groundbreaking is targeted for later this year, with initial production slated for early 2028, positioning the facility as a key contributor to U.S. defense and electronics supply chains.
