Americold Unveils 22,000-Pallet Integrated Cold Chain Hub at Port Saint John
COLD•Americold opened a 22,000-pallet capacity import-export cold storage hub at Port Saint John, integrating DP World maritime logistics and CPKC rail to streamline temperature-controlled goods movement. The facility eliminates drayage in Eastern Canada, supports flows to Europe, South America and Asia-Pacific, and is expected to create 100 jobs.
1. Facility Launch
On June 18, Americold inaugurated its first integrated cold chain facility at Port Saint John in New Brunswick, combining cold storage operations with direct maritime and rail access. The hub was developed in partnership with DP World and Canadian Pacific Kansas City to create a unified import-export solution for perishable goods.
2. Integrated Logistics Network
The Port Saint John facility merges DP World’s maritime services and CPKC’s transnational rail network with Americold’s temperature-controlled storage, forming a seamless supply chain. This integration removes intermediate drayage and provides end-to-end visibility, reducing handling steps and potential delays.
3. Capacity and Connectivity
The hub offers approximately 22,000 pallet positions and is the only Eastern Canada temperature-controlled site directly linked to a port without drayage. It is positioned to support high-volume flows between Central and Eastern Canada and key export markets in Europe, South America and the Asia-Pacific region.
4. Economic and Strategic Impact
Americold’s investment is projected to create up to 100 local jobs and advance its 2026 growth priorities by enhancing global market access. The facility strengthens Port Saint John’s role as a major trade gateway and reinforces Americold’s strategy to expand its cold chain network for long-term shareholder value.
