Anthropic’s $2 trillion goal is AI’s biggest moonshot
MSFT•Anthropic’s revenue reportedly rose nearly 12-fold to $4.6 billion in 2025, while it recorded an $8 billion operating loss. The AI lab is targeting a $2 trillion valuation, which would equal about 47 times estimated 2026 revenue.
1. Revenue and margins
Anthropic’s revenue rose nearly 12-fold in 2025 to $4.6 billion, while its implied gross margin swung to roughly 40% from negative 95% in 2024. The company had $16 billion in revenue in the first two quarters of 2026; assuming that pace holds, annual sales would be just under $40 billion.
2. Valuation ambitions
At a $2 trillion valuation, less $120 billion of net cash, Anthropic would be worth roughly 47 times that projected 2026 revenue. That would exceed SpaceX’s approximately 42-times multiple of expected sales for this year.
3. Spending and commitments
Metered consumption accounted for 83% of Anthropic’s 2025 revenue, up from 75% in 2024. The company spent more than $7 billion on computing infrastructure and recorded an $8 billion operating loss that year; it also has over $500 billion in spending commitments across multi-year contracts with Microsoft, Google, Amazon and Broadcom.
