Apple plans two major Siri upgrades—a non-chatbot enhancement in iOS 26.4 and a Google-Gemini-powered chatbot in iOS 27—leading Gene Munster to predict stock gains over the next eight months. The company confirmed Apple Intelligence will leverage Google’s Gemini models.

1. Gene Munster Identifies Two Siri Upgrades as Near-Term Catalysts

Deepwater Asset Management’s managing partner Gene Munster forecasted that Apple shares could rally over the next eight months, citing two major Siri enhancements as drivers. The first, rolling out in the iOS 26.4 update likely in April, will bolster Siri’s web-search capabilities and improve on-screen content analysis. The second, slated for iOS 27 and macOS 27, will transform Siri into a full-featured chatbot, positioning it against leading generative AI services. Munster reinforced his confidence by noting Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman’s source accuracy, stating, “Gurman is right 90% of the time. You can take this to the bank.”

2. Apple’s Strategic Shift in AI Through Google Partnership

Apple has traditionally trailed peers in generative AI investment, but a newly announced collaboration with Google will undergird its next-generation Siri. Under this agreement, Google’s Gemini model and cloud infrastructure will power Apple’s forthcoming AI assistant features, while Apple maintains control over user interface design and on-device execution. This partnership, revealed on January 12, underscores Apple’s resolve to catch up with rivals that have committed billions to AI, and it paves the way for deep integration of AI into core applications such as Mail, Music and Photos.

3. Limited-Time China Discounts Target Hardware Sales

To stimulate hardware demand in its second-largest market, Apple plans to offer discounts of up to 1,000 yuan on select iPhone, Mac, iPad and Apple Watch models from January 24 to January 27. These price reductions, posted on the Apple China website, aim to capitalize on post-holiday consumer spending and reinforce market share against aggressive local competitors. By focusing on bundled savings across multiple device categories, Apple seeks to bolster unit sales and offset broader macroeconomic headwinds in the region.
