Apple to Highlight Siri Agentic AI Workflows at WWDC; IDC Cuts iPhone Demand Forecasts
AAPL•Apple’s WWDC will showcase integration of a revamped Siri for agentic AI workflows—handling reservations, shopping and travel—and new developer APIs for AI-native iOS experiences. IDC cuts its 2026 iPhone demand forecasts to 5% global and 3% China declines and sees limited near-term AI-driven upgrade cycles.
1. WWDC AI Focus
At WWDC, Apple is expected to demonstrate a revamped Siri across iOS, macOS, watchOS and other ecosystem platforms. The company plans to introduce agentic AI capabilities enabling the digital assistant to execute complex, multi-step tasks such as managing restaurant reservations, coordinating flight bookings and handling shopping orders autonomously.
2. Developer Tools and APIs
New developer tools and APIs will allow third-party apps to integrate Apple’s AI-native features directly into their software. These frameworks aim to empower developers to build richer, context-aware experiences on devices running the latest Apple Intelligence features.
3. Demand Outlook and Upgrade Cycle
IDC now forecasts a 5% drop in global iPhone demand and a 3% decline in China for 2026, revising upward from previous estimates of 8% and 9% contractions. Analysts warn that meaningful AI-driven upgrade cycles are unlikely in the near term since most Apple Intelligence features will be compatible with existing iPhone 16 series devices.
