Apple’s $599 MacBook Neo Could Add $2 Billion Revenue, Expand Student Market
Apple launched its most affordable laptop ever, the $599 MacBook Neo ($499 for education), featuring a 13-inch display and Apple A18 Pro chip. Analyst Gene Munster predicts it could add roughly 0.5% to Apple’s total revenue and about $2 billion annually to its $34 billion Mac segment without hurting margins.
1. MacBook Neo Launch and Pricing
Apple unveiled the 13-inch MacBook Neo priced at $599 retail and $499 for education customers, marking its lowest entry-level Mac price to date. It uses the Apple A18 Pro chip, 8GB RAM, and 256GB storage, targeting students and first-time Mac users.
2. Revenue Projections and Segment Growth
Analyst Gene Munster estimates the Neo could add about 0.5% to Apple’s overall revenue next year, equating to roughly $2 billion for the Mac segment. This lift would represent nearly a 6% increase over the $34 billion Mac business in fiscal 2025 if student uptake meets expectations.
3. Margins and Profitability
Despite the sub-$600 price point, the Neo’s modest hardware configuration allows Apple to maintain similar margin profiles as existing Mac models. This approach suggests the company can expand market share in education without eroding overall profitability.
