Applied Digital Secures $2.4B Deal for 1.2GW AI Data Center Capacity
Base Electron signed a $2.4B deal with Babcock & Wilcox to build four 300-MW gas-fired boilers with Siemens Energy turbines, providing 1.2GW for Applied Digital’s AI data centers. Delta Forge 1 will include two 150-MW facilities delivering 430MW for 300MW IT load by mid-2027, with option to add 1.2GW.
1. $2.4B Contract with Babcock & Wilcox
Applied Digital’s affiliate Base Electron inked a $2.4 billion design-build agreement with Babcock & Wilcox to engineer, procure and construct four 300-MW natural gas-fired boilers integrated with Siemens Energy steam turbines, delivering 1.2GW of dispatchable power for the company’s AI data center campuses.
2. Delta Forge 1 Project Details
The Delta Forge 1 AI factory campus will span over 500 acres and feature two 150-MW facilities supplying 430MW of utility power to support a 300MW critical IT load, with operations expected to begin by mid-2027.
3. Option for Additional 1.2GW Capacity
Applied Digital is evaluating an option to deploy another 1.2GW of generation capacity through Base Electron, reinforcing its strategy to secure reliable and scalable power infrastructure for future AI data center expansions.
