Applied Materials expands EPIC Center collaboration with UC Berkeley to speed chip R&D commercialization

The facility targets faster commercialization by giving university researchers access to industry-scale chipmaking tools for earlier validation and process integration.
The center is expected to become operational in 2026.
UC Berkeley added as research collaborator
Applied Materials added UC Berkeley as a research collaborator at its EPIC Center in Silicon Valley to speed semiconductor materials and process innovation for AI computing.
The company said the EPIC Center is positioned as its largest-ever U.S. investment in advanced semiconductor equipment R&D.
