Ares completes Whitestone REIT acquisition

Ares Real Estate funds completed the acquisition of Whitestone REIT for USD 19 per share or unit in cash, valuing the deal at about USD 1.7 billion.

The transaction adds 54 convenience-focused retail properties totaling about 4.8 million square feet in high-growth US markets.

Whitestone will no longer trade on any public securities exchange following the closing.
