Arm to Sell 136-Core AGI CPUs with Meta Anchor, Aims for $15B Yearly Sales
Arm will sell its own 136-core AGI CPU chips produced by TSMC, targeting $15 billion in annual revenue within five years and forecasting total sales of $25 billion. Meta will be the anchor customer while its IP licensing business is projected to generate $10 billion.
1. First In-House Chip Launch
Arm unveiled its first self-branded AGI CPU featuring 136 cores and a 300-watt design, to be manufactured by TSMC with Meta as its debut customer.
2. Revenue Projections and Sales Targets
The company projects the new chip business will generate about $15 billion annually within five years, driving total sales to roughly $25 billion—five times current levels—while its IP licensing arm is forecast to hit $10 billion.
3. Strategic Business Shift
Under CEO Rene Haas, Arm is expanding beyond pure licensing into direct chip sales to capture greater value in the high-end data center semiconductor market.
4. Margin Expansion Opportunity
CFO Jason Child highlighted that on a $1 000 chip, licensing yields about $50 profit, design usage yields $100, and self-manufactured chips could deliver around $500 in gross profit.
