Arm’s First In-House AGI CPU to Drive Billions in Revenue
Arm unveiled its first in-house AGI CPU for data centers, fabricated on TSMC’s 3nm process with dual-silicon design and volume production slated for H2 2026. The company projects the chip will generate billions of dollars in annual revenue and counts Meta, OpenAI, Cloudflare, SAP and SK Telecom as launch customers.
1. Arm Launches First In-House AGI CPU
Arm introduced the AGI CPU, its inaugural data center processor designed to support agentic AI workloads that act autonomously on users’ behalf. This marks a departure from its long-standing IP licensing model and represents the first chip developed and marketed directly by Arm.
2. Strategic Shift and Revenue Outlook
The AGI CPU initiative follows Arm’s decision last year to invest hundreds of millions in chip development and hire key executives for its cloud AI business. Management forecasts the new product will add billions of dollars to annual revenue, underpinning a pivotal transformation in Arm’s growth strategy.
3. Partnerships, Fabrication and Production Timeline
Meta Platforms serves as the lead design and launch partner, with additional commitments from OpenAI, Cloudflare, SAP and SK Telecom. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co will fabricate the dual-silicon chip on its 3nm node, with test units performing as expected and volume shipments set for the second half of 2026.
