ArriVent falls after lung cancer drug misses late-stage trial goal
AVBP•ArriVent shares fell 62.7% premarket after its experimental drug firmonertinib failed to significantly delay disease worsening or death in a late-stage trial of 398 patients.
1. Trial results
In previously untreated patients with advanced lung cancer linked to a rare genetic mutation, the higher dose of firmonertinib was associated with a median 11 months without worsening, compared with 9.5 months on chemotherapy. Tumours shrank in 60% of patients on the higher dose versus 33% on chemotherapy. Severe side effects occurred in 52% and 55%, respectively, and the company reported no new safety concerns. ArriVent is reviewing the full results before deciding the drug’s next development steps.
