Work was supported by AKM Semiconductor in San Jose during configuration, development, and validation of the current-sensing setup.
The collaboration targets protection functions across power applications, with potential interest in higher-power-density data center architectures.
AKM sensors adopted in Microchip reference design
Asahi Kasei Microdevices’ CZ39 and CZ3K coreless current sensors were adopted in Microchip’s machine learning-based arc-fault detection reference design.
The design uses a dsPIC33A digital signal controller to run signal processing and machine learning inference on-device for faster, local arc-fault decisions.
