Astralintu Orders Two S/X/Ka-Band Antennas to Expand Equatorial Ground Network
Astralintu ordered two S/X/Ka-band ground antennas from Viasat to support its Equatorial Ground Station Network. The antennas will close a coverage gap in South America, the Southern Caribbean and Eastern Pacific and join Viasat’s Real-Time Earth network by end-2026.
1. Deal Announcement
Viasat’s Defense and Advanced Technologies segment will deliver two full-motion S/X/Ka-band ground antennas to Astralintu as part of its Equatorial Ground Station Network. The purchase leverages Viasat’s Ground Segment-as-a-Service capabilities to support real-time earth observation and scientific data downlinks for the first global equatorial ground service.
2. Coverage Expansion
The new antennas will address a ground-segment coverage gap across South America, the Southern Caribbean and the Eastern Pacific, integrating into Viasat’s Real-Time Earth network. Customers of Astralintu will gain access to the existing equatorial site in Accra, Ghana, along with the upcoming 0° latitude station in Ecuador.
3. Operational Timeline and Outlook
Both antennas are slated to be operational by the end of 2026 with plans for additional equatorial locations thereafter. Rising demand for LEO constellations and multi-orbit networks positions Viasat for growth through further antenna sales and recurring GSaaS revenue within an addressable ground-station services market projected at $500 million over five years.
