AstraZeneca publishes ESMO presentation on cancer trial results
AZN•AstraZeneca published its ESMO 2026 presentation, reporting Phase III results across bladder, lung and gastric cancers. Results included survival improvements in four trials, though centrally assessed progression-free survival in CLARITY-Gastric01 did not reach statistical significance.
1. Trial results
VOLGA showed Imfinzi with enfortumab vedotin improved event-free survival versus control, with a hazard ratio of 0.51, and significantly improved overall survival. In SAFFRON, Tagrisso with Orpathys increased median overall survival to 17.8 months, versus 12.9 months with platinum-pemetrexed.
2. Lung and gastric findings
In DeLLphi-305, maintenance Imfinzi with Imdelltra reduced the risk of death by 58% versus Imfinzi alone in extensive-stage small-cell lung cancer. CLARITY-Gastric01 showed sone-ve reduced mortality risk by 42% in second-line or later treatment, while centrally assessed progression-free survival did not reach statistical significance.
