ATLC•Atlanticus, through Mercury Financial, sold the MERCURY word mark and related intellectual property for $27.5 million cash; the associated credit card receivables remain with the company.
1. Brand and account terms
The sale excluded consumer credit card receivables tied to the MERCURY-branded program, which remain with Atlanticus. The buyer granted a 12-month, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to solicit new card customers using the mark, while Mercury may use the brand for up to five more years to service legacy accounts and meet operational requirements.
