Aurora Innovation Hits 250K Incident-Free Miles, Eyes 200 Trucks for $80M Run Rate

AURAUR

Aurora Innovation logged 250,000 incident-free driverless miles across 10 lanes in three Sun Belt states since April 2025, expanding from a single Dallas–Houston route to include night and fog driving. It plans 200 trucks for an $80 million run rate, holds $1.5 billion liquidity and targets free cash flow positive in 2028.

1. Incident-Free Operational Milestone

Aurora Innovation logged over 250,000 driverless miles without any incidents across 10 lanes in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona since launching in April 2025, expanding beyond its initial Dallas–Houston route to include night and fog driving capabilities.

2. 2026 Commercial Scaling Plans

The company plans to deploy 200 second-generation, observer-free trucks in the Sun Belt by year-end, targeting an $80 million aggregate run rate and shifting operations from terminal-to-terminal routes toward customer endpoints.

3. Autonomous Freight Business Model

Under its driver-as-a-service model, Aurora charges about $0.85 per mile versus roughly $1.00 for a human driver, while aiming for over 250,000 miles per year per truck and delivering total cost-of-ownership savings.

4. Partnerships and Financial Runway

Aurora’s ecosystem includes partnerships with PACCAR, Volvo and International for upfitting, plus NVIDIA and sensor suppliers for compute and hardware, and it holds $1.5 billion in liquidity to fund growth until free cash flow positivity in 2028.
