Avolon orders 250 Boeing, Airbus jets with option for 100 more
BA•Avolon ordered 140 Boeing jets and 110 Airbus aircraft, with an option for 100 more Airbus jets. The orders bring its total aircraft on order to 749.
1. Largest orders to date
Avolon said it ordered 140 Boeing 737 MAX jets, 75 Airbus A320neo planes and 35 Airbus A330neos. The agreement includes options for 100 additional, unspecified Airbus aircraft and is the largest order Avolon has placed with either planemaker.
2. Aircraft sales and approval
The lessor said it sold 29 aircraft in the July-September quarter and had agreed to sell another 112 by the end of September. CEO Andy Cronin said the company continued to see strong demand for new-technology aircraft. The orders require approval from majority shareholder Bohai Leasing, which Avolon expects before the end of the month.
