AWS Raises Nvidia GPU Rates to $14.04 for P6-B300, Signaling Tight Supply
NVDA•AWS will raise hourly rates on five Nvidia GPU instances on July 1, including P6-B300 to $14.04 and P5 to $5.19. Price hikes underscore tight GPU supply and may boost Nvidia’s data center revenue if customers maintain current consumption levels.
1. AWS Announces GPU Pricing Changes
Effective July 1, AWS will increase hourly charges on five Nvidia-backed EC2 Capacity Blocks: P6-B300 to $14.04, P6-B200 to $12.355, P5 to $5.191, P5e to $5.97 and P5en to $6.865. All other instance prices remain unchanged.
2. Tight Supply Drives Higher Rates
AWS cites persistent demand for AI compute power and constrained Nvidia GPU supply as reasons for the adjustments. The last increase occurred in January, highlighting ongoing capacity shortages in key cloud regions.
3. Implications for Nvidia’s Financials
Higher AWS rental rates could translate into stronger data center segment revenues for Nvidia, as customers absorb elevated fees. Sustained pricing power may also support Nvidia’s overall margins if utilization remains high.
4. Customer Response and Competitive Dynamics
End users may evaluate shifting workloads to in-house chips or rival GPUs if costs rise further. The price changes could accelerate investment in on-premise AI infrastructure or alternative cloud providers offering competitive rates.
