Backblaze flags backup gaps as Mac adoption expands across organizations
BLZE•Backblaze said 43% of IT teams do not back up all endpoints, while 58% of organizations experienced data loss or a security incident last year. It also cited resource constraints, restore difficulties and backup software compatibility issues affecting Mac fleets.
1. Backup coverage gaps
Backblaze published analysis highlighting gaps in Mac fleet backup protection, including compatibility issues, deployment challenges and pricing structures. It said 43% of IT teams do not back up all endpoints and 58% of organizations experienced data loss or a security incident last year.
2. Challenges for IT teams
31% of respondents cited limited time and resources as their top endpoint protection challenge, and only 9% described restoring backups as “very easy.” Backblaze said backup clients adapted for Macs can face resource conflicts, while delayed compatibility with macOS updates can cause missed files or silent failures. It also said per-gigabyte pricing can encourage organizations to exclude large files from backups.
