The weighted average rate on new loans rose 11 basis points to 4.79% in August, while the rate on new deposits was nearly unchanged at 0.37%. The spread on new business widened to 4.42 percentage points; rates on outstanding deposits and loans were 0.37% and 4.84%, respectively, leaving their spread broadly steady at 4.47 percentage points.
