Becton Dickinson to invest $19 billion in U.S.
BDX•Becton Dickinson plans to invest $19 billion in the United States over several years, including $3 billion for manufacturing expansion. The company plans to increase U.S. production by 5 billion medical consumables annually and make all its needles in America with American-made steel.
1. U.S. manufacturing plans
Becton Dickinson and the U.S. government launched a partnership to expand U.S. manufacturing and strengthen healthcare resilience. BD said it will invest $19 billion in the United States over several years, directing $3 billion toward manufacturing expansion and increasing U.S. production by 5 billion medical consumables annually.
2. Needle production and tariffs
BD said it will manufacture 100% of its needles in America using American-made steel. The agreement provides relief from future Section 232 tariffs on BD products.
