BHPBHP

BHP will appoint Brandon Craig as CEO and director effective July 1, 2026, succeeding Mike Henry after more than six years in the top role. Craig, a 25-year veteran heading Americas operations overseeing copper, potash and the Jansen project, will earn a $1.9 million base salary plus incentive plans.

1. Leadership Transition

Brandon Craig will succeed Mike Henry as CEO and director of BHP on July 1, 2026, concluding Henry’s six-year tenure. Henry will stay through June 30 to support the handover and depart by November 30, 2026, without a 2026 long-term incentive award.

2. Craig’s Career and Roles

Craig brings over 25 years of experience across BHP’s global operations, most recently leading the Americas division. He oversaw copper expansion in Canada, the United States and South America, advanced the Jansen potash project and improved performance in Western Australia iron ore.

3. Strategic Implications

Craig’s appointment underscores BHP’s focus on electrification metals and long-cycle supply constraints. Under his leadership, the Escondida guidance extension and Vicuña joint venture are positioned to strengthen copper output ahead of Jansen’s mid-2027 start.

4. Compensation and Terms

Craig will receive a $1.9 million base salary with a 10% pension contribution and access to annual cash and deferred incentives plus long-term incentive awards. His contract includes a 12-month notice period, post-retirement shareholding requirements and relocation support to Melbourne.
