Gainey’s military background

Gainey previously led the Pentagon’s Joint Counter-small Unmanned Aircraft Systems Office, shaping the department’s first counter-drone strategy. He later commanded the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command, taking charge of Joint Task Force-Gold in January 2026.
