BioNTech's Q3 revenue falls on lower COVID-19 vaccine demand
BNTX•BioNTech's third-quarter revenue fell year over year on lower COVID-19 vaccine demand, with revenue of €1.29 billion, adjusted diluted EPS of €0.73 and net income of €184.5 million. The company raised its 2026 revenue guidance midpoint to a range of €1.7 billion to €1.9 billion.
1. Quarterly results and outlook
BioNTech said lower expected market demand for COVID-19 vaccines drove its year-over-year third-quarter revenue decline. Adjusted diluted EPS and net profit also fell from the prior year. The company raised its 2026 revenue guidance midpoint to €1.7 billion to €1.9 billion, while maintaining adjusted R&D expense guidance of €2.0 billion to €2.3 billion and adjusted SG&A expense guidance of €700 million to €800 million.
2. Research and restructuring costs
Higher R&D expenses were mainly due to increased spending on late-stage immuno-oncology and antibody-drug conjugate programs. Impairment and restructuring costs from pipeline prioritization affected operating results.
