BlackRock files for ETF share classes on five active mutual funds with nearly $55 billion in assets
BLK•BlackRock filed with the SEC to add ETF share classes to five active mutual funds with nearly $55 billion in combined assets. The plans cover high-yield, municipal-bond and equity-dividend strategies.
1. ETF share-class plans
The proposed ETF share classes would trade on an exchange while investing in the same underlying portfolios as the mutual fund share classes. The structure would not create separate strategies or require existing mutual fund shareholders to move their holdings. iShares had nearly $190 billion in assets as of Aug. 31, 2026, making it the third-largest active ETF issuer globally.
