BMO Launches AI & Quantum Centre and Appoints Chief AI & Quantum Officer
BMO launched the Institute for Applied Artificial Intelligence & Quantum as an enterprise-wide Centre of Excellence to advance AI and Quantum capabilities and improve client experiences. Dr. Kristin Milchanowski becomes Chief AI & Quantum Officer and Founding Director to lead innovation, governance and technology growth.
1. Institute Launch and Purpose
BMO has established the Institute for Applied Artificial Intelligence & Quantum to centralize expertise across science, policy, ethics and commercialization. This Centre of Excellence is charged with responsible AI innovation, governance and the development of Quantum capabilities to boost productivity, efficiency and client experiences.
2. Leadership Appointment
Effective April 6, Dr. Kristin Milchanowski was named Chief AI & Quantum Officer and Founding Director of the Institute. In this expanded role, she will oversee BMO’s enterprise-wide AI and Quantum strategy, ensuring robust governance and driving responsible technology adoption.
3. Strategic Technology Partnerships and Awards
BMO became the first Canadian bank to join the IBM Quantum Network, extending its leadership in North America. The bank has also been recognized among the world’s top 10 banks for AI innovation and has received awards for its advanced analytics capabilities, reinforcing its commitment to cutting-edge technology.
