BNB study shows Brazil’s Northeast economy grows 2.5% in 12 months through July 2026
EWZ•Banco do Nordeste’s study found the Northeast economy grew 2.5% in the 12 months through July 2026, matching the South and exceeding Brazil’s 1.5% gain. Pernambuco grew 3.6%, while Bahia grew 1.4%.

Banco do Nordeste’s analysis found the Northeast economy grew 2.5% in the 12 months through July 2026, matching the South and outpacing Brazil’s 1.5% gain based on the central bank’s IBC-Br activity index. Pernambuco led tracked northeastern states with 3.6% growth, while Bahia recorded 1.4%.
2. Growth slowed
The report said annualized growth eased to 2.5% in July from 3% in April. Nationally, agriculture rose 2.3% over 12 months, services grew 1.9% and industry gained 0.7%.
