July 30 (Reuters) - BP said on Thursday it has started up its Atlantis Facility Expansion project in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.
The project adds two subsea water-injection wells to increase reservoir pressure, helping unlock additional oil and gas resources and extend the life of the Atlantis field, the company said.
BP added that the project, delivered ahead of schedule and under budget, will add about 10,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day of gross peak annualised average production (boe/d), with about 5,000 boe/d net to BP.
The Atlantis platform, about 150 miles (240 km) off the coast of New Orleans, has been producing hydrocarbons for close to two decades.
