Bristol Myers Squibb to source 145MW from 270MW Blevins Solar Project

BMYBMY

Bristol Myers Squibb will source 145MW of solar power from Geronimo Power’s newly operational 270MW Blevins Solar Project in Texas under a power purchase agreement. The project is expected to offset over nine million metric tonnes of CO2 over 20 years and yield $32.5m in tax revenue.

1. Solar Power Purchase Agreement

Bristol Myers Squibb secured 145MW of capacity from Geronimo Power’s 270MW Blevins Solar Project in Texas under a long-term power purchase agreement signed in November 2023. Geronimo Power began commercial operations this month, delivering renewable energy into the ERCOT grid to meet corporate sustainability commitments.

2. Economic and Environmental Impact

Over its first 20 years, the Blevins Solar Project is projected to generate approximately $33.8m in local economic impact, including $32.5m in tax revenue for Falls County and surrounding districts. The facility will offset more than nine million metric tonnes of CO2, equivalent to removing roughly 101,700 cars from roads annually, and produce enough electricity to power about 88,900 homes each year.

3. Strategic Implications for Bristol Myers Squibb

By embedding a 145MW solar PPA into its energy portfolio, Bristol Myers Squibb strengthens operational resilience against price volatility and enhances its ESG profile. The deal underscores the company’s approach to integrating sustainability as a strategic lever for long-term business performance and stakeholder value.
