Broadcom Unveils BroadPeak SoC Cutting Power by 40% for 5G Advanced and 6G
Broadcom launched BroadPeak™ BCM85021, a 5nm CMOS digital front-end SoC spanning 400MHz–8.5GHz and delivering up to 40% lower power consumption for massive MIMO and RRH applications. The device integrates ADC/DAC blocks with iBW up to 860MHz, ADC/DAC sampling rates to 19.6GS/s and supports n104 and 6G bands.
1. BroadPeak SoC Launch
Broadcom introduced the BroadPeak BCM85021, the industry’s first integrated radio digital front-end SoC for 5G Advanced and 6G. Built on a 5nm CMOS process, BroadPeak combines DFE, AFE and high-linearity data converters to support massive MIMO and remote radio head architectures.
2. Technical Highlights
BroadPeak supports a scalable RF carrier range of 400MHz to 8.5GHz, iBW up to 860MHz, oBW to 800MHz, ADC/DAC sampling rates of 19.6GS/s and achieves ACLR better than –50dBc with DPD learning 100× faster than typical solutions.
3. Market and Partnerships
The SoC meets 5G Advanced n104 band requirements (6.425–7.125GHz) and the 7–8.5GHz 6G mid-band. Broadcom conducted interoperability tests with Altera Agilex™ 7 FPGAs and co-developed a BroadPeak SDK with Hitachi GlobalLogic to streamline deployment in next-gen networks.
4. Availability
BroadPeak BCM85021 samples are now shipping to early-access customers. Broadcom sales representatives are accepting inquiries on sample quantities, pricing and integration support for initial deployments.
