Brookfield completes acquisition of Oaktree
BAM•Brookfield fully combines Oaktree platforms
Brookfield completed its acquisition of Oaktree, fully combining platforms in a partnership that began in 2019.
The deal expands Brookfield’s global credit platform to about $365 billion, spanning opportunistic credit, asset-backed finance, and real asset credit.
The U.S. becomes Brookfield Asset Management’s largest market, hosting over 60% of staff and nearly half of revenue.
Howard Marks, a Brookfield director, will serve as Oaktree co-chair; Bruce Karsh will also be co-chair and remain chief investment officer.
Oaktree’s presence in 18 countries broadens Brookfield’s credit distribution and capital deployment reach.
