Business First FY26 Q2 net income rises 9.99% to $22.83 million

Total assets climbed 8.4% to $8.9 billion, loans held for investment grew 7.6% to $6.7 billion, and deposits increased 8% to $7.2 billion.
Q2 earnings and margin improved
Business First Bancshares posted net income available to common shareholders of $22.83 million, flat at $0.70 per share, for Q2 2026.
Net interest income rose 16.11% to $77.84 million, lifting net interest margin 5 basis points to 3.73%.
Credit quality and recent transactions
Nonperforming assets increased to $109.24 million from $89.7 million at Dec. 31, driven by two commercial relationships and a Texas foreclosure.
The company also closed the Progressive merger on Jan. 1, completed an $85 million subordinated notes placement, and acquired American Planning for $6.8 million.
