BYD October sales rise 11% as overseas demand offsets weak Chinese market
BYD sold 490,168 vehicles in October, up 11% year over year, as overseas shipments rose 102.8% to 170,194. Xiaomi delivered more than 50,000 vehicles in October and about 336,000 in the first 10 months of 2026.
1. BYD sales and exports
BYD's October sales rose 11% year over year to 490,168 vehicles as overseas demand offset weakness in China. Overseas shipments surged 102.8% to 170,194 vehicles, increasing BYD's reliance on exports amid intense domestic price competition. Proposed China-EU restrictions on hybrid imports could threaten its export momentum in Europe.
2. Xiaomi delivery target
Xiaomi's October deliveries exceeded 50,000, bringing its 10-month total to approximately 336,000 vehicles, about 61% of its 2026 target. Reaching 550,000 deliveries would require approximately 107,000 vehicles monthly in November and December, more than double October's volume.
