Cal-Maine Foods said sharply lower conventional egg prices, lower specialty egg selling prices and higher feed and production costs contributed to its results. Net loss was $58.62 million, compared with an analyst consensus estimate of $35.41 million. The company said temporary production reductions during Prepared Foods capacity expansion lowered sales volumes; it expects Prepared Foods capacity to grow more than 60% by the first half of fiscal 2028, while the timing of a conventional shell egg market rebalance remains uncertain.
