On March 2, Cal-Maine Foods acquired the shell egg, egg products and prepared food assets of Creighton Brothers LLC and Crystal Lake LLC for $128.5 million in cash, subject to customary post-closing adjustments.
2. Facility and Asset Details
The purchase includes commercial shell egg production and grading facilities with capacity for 3.2 million laying hens (including 500,000 cage-free), 865,000 pullets, a feed mill, 1,007 acres of land and a processing facility for liquid, frozen and hard-cooked egg products.
3. Geographic and Market Expansion
These assets represent Cal-Maine Foods’ first shell egg operations in Warsaw, Indiana, expanding its reach into retail and foodservice markets with ready-to-use egg offerings.
4. Integration and Workforce
Cal-Maine will integrate the acquired operations into its existing network and transition 177 employees to support ongoing production and distribution.
