Canada Goose Names Binder as Asia Pacific President, Ekerot as Global Stores SVP
Daniel Binder will assume the role of President, Asia Pacific at Canada Goose effective April 2026 while retaining his Chief Transformation Officer title, and Niclas Ekerot joins as Senior VP, Global Stores immediately, bringing over 25 years of luxury retail experience. Ana Mihaljevic, President of North America, will depart in February 2026 and will be succeeded on an interim basis by Carrie Baker to oversee the region during the search for a permanent replacement.
1. Strategic Leadership Shift in Asia Pacific
Effective April 2026, Daniel Binder has been appointed President, Asia Pacific while retaining his role as Chief Transformation Officer. Binder’s relocation to this new position follows a 10-month transformation initiative in which he collaborated with regional teams to increase wholesale revenue by 18% in Greater China and expand digital sales by 35%. His transition out of the Executive Vice President, Global Stores role aligns with Canada Goose’s goal to streamline its leadership structure and capitalize on high-growth markets across Asia Pacific, where net orders grew by 22% year-over-year in fiscal 2025.
2. Global Retail Leadership Reinforcement
Niclas Ekerot joins as Senior Vice President, Global Stores, filling the vacancy left by Binder. With over 25 years of experience at Bottega Veneta, Michael Kors, Gucci and Burberry, Ekerot will oversee 75 direct-operated boutiques and 120 wholesale doors worldwide. At Burberry, he led a turnaround that boosted same-store sales by 12% and improved EBITDA margins by 250 basis points. His mandate at Canada Goose includes optimizing store operating margins—currently averaging 18%—and piloting new flagship concepts in London and Tokyo by Q3 2026.
3. North America Leadership Transition
After more than a decade at Canada Goose, Ana Mihaljevic, President of North America, will depart in February 2026 to pursue external opportunities. During her tenure, North American revenue tripled from CAD 120 million in fiscal 2015 to CAD 360 million in fiscal 2025, and direct-to-consumer penetration reached 60% of regional sales. Carrie Baker, President, Brand & Commercial, will serve as interim head of North America while the company conducts an external search. Baker’s team recently launched a loyalty program that added 150,000 members in six months, contributing to a 7% uplift in repeat purchase rates.
4. Board Continuity and Strategic Oversight
Jonathan Sinclair, who established operational discipline as President, Asia Pacific after serving as Chief Financial Officer, will step down from the regional presidency but remain on the boards of Canada Goose’s Asian subsidiaries. Under his leadership, the Asia Pacific subsidiary improved inventory turnover from 3.2 to 4.7 times per year and reduced distribution costs by CAD 4 million. This board-level continuity is designed to safeguard strategic initiatives, including the upcoming launch of a Mandarin-language digital platform scheduled for September 2026.
