Canada Nickel Advances Two Projects: Crawford 1P1P Permit, Reid Resources Up 46%

CNIKFCNIKF

Ontario designated Canada Nickel’s 100%-owned Crawford Nickel Project the second under its One Project, One Process framework, fast-tracking permitting with a year-end construction target and forecasting 4,000 jobs and $70bn GDP over 40 years. The adjacent Reid project increased Measured & Indicated nickel resources by 46% to 2.1Mt contained nickel.

1. Ontario Names Crawford Nickel Project Under 1P1P Framework

Canada Nickel Company’s 100%-owned Crawford Nickel Project in Northeastern Ontario has been formally designated as the second development under Ontario’s One Project, One Process framework, streamlining permit reviews across six provincial ministries. This endorsement follows Crawford’s early submission of an Impact Statement under the amended 2019 Impact Assessment Act in November 2024 and its referral to the federal Major Projects Office in November 2025. The project is expected to create 4,000 direct jobs during construction and operations, generate over C$67 billion in provincial GDP across a 40-year mine life, and permanently sequester up to 1.5 million tonnes of CO₂ annually through patented In-Process Tailings Carbonation technology. Canada Nickel has committed to commence construction by the end of 2026, working closely with Indigenous Nations and leveraging the newly announced Critical Minerals Processing Fund to develop a fully integrated ‘Made-in-Canada’ nickel supply chain, from mine to downstream alloy production.

2. Reid Nickel Sulphide Resource Jumps 46% in Measured & Indicated Categories

At the adjacent Reid Nickel Sulphide Project, located 16 km southwest of Crawford, Canada Nickel reported a 46% increase in Measured and Indicated nickel resources, now totaling 2.1 million tonnes of contained nickel within 0.87 billion tonnes grading 0.23% Ni, including a higher-grade domain of 0.77 billion tonnes at 0.25% Ni. Inferred resources rose by 47% to 3.2 million tonnes of contained nickel within 1.45 billion tonnes at 0.22% Ni, with 40% of the 3.9 km² geophysical target still untested. The Mineral Resource Estimate, prepared by Caracle Creek International Consulting, is based on 89 drill holes totaling 51,137 m, an average strip ratio of 1.19:1 and 25.8 m of overburden. An additional exploration target of 0.5–1.4 billion tonnes at 0.21–0.22% Ni remains conceptual pending further drilling. The updated resource underpins long-term expansion potential in the Timmins Nickel District while supporting a low-carbon mining corridor anchored by Crawford.
