1. Commemorative Locomotive Details
Canadian Pacific Kansas City introduced the CPKC 1776, a Tier 4 ET44AC locomotive built by Wabtec in Fort Worth, Texas, featuring Old Glory Red and Blue, a 13-star emblem, and inscriptions from the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution Preamble. This unit is the first of five that will bear the America 250 commemorative livery.
2. Anniversary Significance
The special 1776 livery honors the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and reflects freight rail’s historic role in connecting the United States. CPKC leadership, including CEO Keith Creel, emphasized the tribute’s alignment with national celebrations and the contributions of the company’s 6,000 U.S. railroaders.
3. Network and Operations
CPKC operates an 8,800-mile U.S. network across 19 states—roughly 40% of its 20,000-mile transnational system linking Canada, the U.S., and Mexico.
