Canadian Solar’s e-STORAGE to Deploy 420 MWh Storage at Marfleet and Neilston for Drax
e-STORAGE will deliver 420 MWh of battery systems for Drax across two UK sites: a 60 MW/120 MWh installation in Marfleet and a 150 MW/300 MWh installation in Neilston. Installations begin in Q3 2026 at Marfleet and 2027 at Neilston under long-term service agreements covering monitoring, maintenance, performance analytics.
1. Contract Awards
e-STORAGE secured two battery energy storage projects totaling 420 MWh AC for Drax, featuring a 60 MW/120 MWh installation in Marfleet, England, and a 150 MW/300 MWh installation in Neilston, Scotland. Both projects were developed by Apatura and acquired by Drax to add to its FlexGen portfolio.
2. Installation Timeline and Services
Work at Marfleet is scheduled to start in the third quarter of 2026, with Neilston following in early 2027. e-STORAGE will supply integrated SolBank 3.0 batteries and deliver operational services under long-term service agreements that include monitoring, preventative maintenance and performance analytics.
3. Strategic Impact
These installations will enhance grid flexibility and support renewable integration in the UK, marking Drax’s first short-duration storage investment. For Canadian Solar, the projects bolster its European footprint and contribute to its $3.6 billion contracted backlog through e-STORAGE.
