Carnival Expands Meal Donations to Dominican Republic with 200 Portions
CCL•Carnival Corporation expanded its Less Left Over meal donation program to Amber Cove in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, providing approximately 200 portions to the Archdiocese of Puerto Plata. The initiative now spans 19 ports since 2017, with over 320,000 meal portions donated as of year-end 2025.
1. Program Expansion to Dominican Republic
Carnival Corporation extended its Less Left Over meal donation program to Amber Cove in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, donating about 200 meal portions from Carnival Cruise Line's Mardi Gras to the Archdiocese of Puerto Plata for distribution to families and the elderly. This marks the program's second Latin American location.
2. Growth and Global Impact
Since launching in 2017, Carnival’s surplus meal program has grown to include 19 global ports, providing over 320,000 meal portions by year-end 2025. Coordination with culinary teams, government authorities and local partners ensures safe and consistent meal transfers from ship to shore.
3. Local Economic and Community Benefits
Amber Cove, established in 2015 through an $85 million investment, has welcomed roughly seven million visitors and solidified Puerto Plata as a leading Caribbean cruise destination. Carnival’s eight cruise lines will visit six Dominican ports in 2026, carrying more than 1.3 million guests and capturing 50% market share.
