Georgia Power Opens CARES CIR Program for 3,000 MW Solar and Sets Q2 Call
SO•Georgia Power opened enrollment for CARES CIR, approved to procure up to 3,000 MW of solar projects and allowing commercial customers to subscribe to utility-scale (>6 MW) or distributed (250 kW–6 MW) solar capacity. Southern Company will release Q2 results July 30 with a 1 p.m. ET call.
1. CARES CIR Enrollment and Structure
Georgia Power opened enrollment for the Clean and Renewable Energy Subscription Customer Identified Resource (CARES CIR) program approved under its 2025 Integrated Resource Plan, offering commercial and industrial customers the ability to identify new renewable projects for up to 3,000 MW through utility-scale (>6 MW) and distributed (250 kW–6 MW) tracks, with long-term power purchase agreements to be established after project approval.
2. Q2 Earnings Release Scheduled
Southern Company will publish second-quarter 2026 results by 7:30 a.m. ET on July 30, 2026, followed by a conference call at 1 p.m. ET led by Chairman Christopher Womack and CFO David Poroch to review financial performance and outlook.
