Cars.com report shows only 2 of 56 new vehicles earn straight A grades in 2026 car seat test

Cars.com released its 2026 Best Cars for Car Seats report, finding only 2 of 56 tested 2025 and 2026 model-year vehicles earned straight A grades for car seat fit and installation.

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLS580 and the 2026 Volkswagen Tiguan secured top marks across all car seat categories.

The analysis flagged broader execution risk for automakers, with most vehicles failing to deliver consistently strong results across infant, convertible, and high-back booster seat tests.

The report also named 10 additional “Top Finishers” that missed an A grade in only one category.
