Cascades has placed 34th in Corporate Knights’ Global 100 ranking for the seventh consecutive year, leading the Containers and Packaging industry and ranking third in the Materials sector. It jumped from 59th in 2025 to 34th in 2026 based on assessments of sustainable revenue and investment.
1. CADNF Secures Top Sustainability Ranking for Seventh Consecutive Year
CADNF, the U.S. OTC-listed shares of Cascades Inc., has been named one of the Global 100 most sustainable corporations for 2026 by Corporate Knights. The company climbed from 59th place in 2025 to 34th worldwide, leading the Containers and Packaging industry and ranking third in the broader Materials sector. The rankings, unveiled during the World Economic Forum in Davos, assessed firms with over US$1 billion in 2024 revenue on criteria including percentage of sustainable revenue and investment, as well as momentum in improvement.
2. Strong Revenue from Recycled and Certified Fibers
Corporate Knights highlighted CADNF’s significant proportion of 2024 sales derived from products made with recycled or certified fibers, which accounted for more than 55% of total packaging revenues. The company’s 2024 investments in environmental and sustainable development initiatives exceeded US$120 million, representing over 18% of its capital expenditures. These figures outpace the average 17% sustainable revenue and 13% sustainable investment ratios reported across all large companies evaluated.
3. Leadership Endorsed by Independent Methodology
Toby Heaps, CEO of Corporate Knights, noted that the 2026 methodology places emphasis on both the current share of sustainable operations and the speed of improvement. CADNF’s performance under this transparent, rules-based framework confirms its sectoral leadership and positions it among peers that generated roughly 60% sustainable revenues and investments. As a group, the Global 100 companies outperformed their global peers in financial returns, underscoring the link between robust sustainability practices and shareholder value.
4. CEO Outlines 2026–2030 Sustainability Roadmap
President and CEO Hugues Simon stated that the seventh consecutive Global 100 placement will inform Cascades’ fifth sustainable development plan running from 2026 to 2030. The company, which employs nearly 9,500 people across 65 North American facilities, plans to intensify efforts to reduce its own operational footprint and that of its customers. Specific targets include a further 10% increase in recycled-fiber product output by 2028 and a 15% reduction in scope-1 and scope-2 greenhouse gas emissions relative to 2023 levels.
