Caterpillar Debuts Cat Compact Platform, New C3.6 and C13D Engines at CONEXPO
At CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026, Caterpillar unveiled the Cat Compact platform for small contractors, refreshed Cat Rentals and showcased new C3.6 and C13D high-horsepower engines. It demonstrated Cat AI Assistant, the autonomous CS12 compactor, integrated Geotab data into VisionLink and added next-day parts and two-day repairs under its Services Commitment.
1. New Equipment Platforms and Engines
At CONEXPO-CON/AGG, Caterpillar introduced Cat Compact, a one-stop digital and in-person platform for small contractors to buy, rent and service compact equipment. The company also refreshed its Cat Rentals brand and showcased new high-horsepower C3.6 and C13D engines designed for reliable, around-the-clock jobsite performance.
2. AI and Autonomy Enhancements
Caterpillar demonstrated Cat AI Assistant to simplify equipment interaction and launched its first autonomous soil compactor, the CS12, in Operator Stadium. The company highlighted Collision Mitigation in its Cat Detect portfolio and integrated on-highway data from Geotab into VisionLink to centralize fleet management and improve uptime.
3. Service and Rental Program Upgrades
The Services Commitment was enhanced to guarantee next-day parts delivery and two-day repairs, with Cat Credits issued if targets are missed. Caterpillar also promoted Cat Rewards and the Cat Commercial Account to offer financing incentives and bolster customer loyalty across its global dealer network.
4. Operator and Technician Competitions
Nine finalists will compete in the Global Operator Challenge Finals at Operator Stadium, showcasing top talent in equipment operation. The inaugural Global Dealer Technician Challenge will follow, recognizing the expertise of dealer technicians in maintaining and servicing Cat machines.
